On Thursday 5th September the Year 1 students went on a trip to North Head, Devonport. This term we have been learning about New Zealand landscapes and the natural and man-made features found within them. We got to explore the natural hills, rocks and beaches as well as the man-made tunnels, paths and trenches. We had a great time seeing and learning about new things!
Here is Nidhi exploring the canons with her friends.

Portrait Art and Pirate Writing
This term Mrs Scott taught me how to draw a self portrait. First I sketched my portrait in my sketch book. After Mrs August enlarged this, I traced over the lines in vivid. Then I used water dissolvable pastels to add some colour and make my face look real. I added a pirate hat, some stitches and an eye patch to turn myself into a pirate!
"I am a pirate. I like to be on a boat".

Sports
We are learning different ball skills.
Coach Cameron has been teaching us how to throw, catch and bounce a ball.
Here I am practising how to bounce a ball without stopping.
It is not easy but it is fun and by practising I know I will get better.
